Best video card for Splash 2.0

Sat Apr 01, 2017 10:08 pm

Hello guys,

I know I'm crazy, but I want to continue using Splash 2.0 to play my different video files, even if the software always seems to be abandoned...

So I've got a Geforce Gtx 750 Ti and want to upgrade to a better video card. I'm looking for something between 950 and 1050 and need your experience feedback to know the video card which could run the best Splash 2.0.

Thx in advanced for your help!

Finally I'm really interested in the EVGA 1060 6G of RAM. Anyone with experience with this card and Splash 2.0?

I doubt there will be any difference.

I also love Splash, but due to licensing problems I have and support that doesn't respond, I've finally tried and setup SVP and I'm pretty sure I'll stick with it.

Hello gmit, that's what I did 1 week ago now... I hadn't any answers from Splash team, so I decided to go throughout SVP and the couple MPC-HC/madVR. With this solution I can tweak everything and configure it to make all my videos working, instead of having a video player that uses only HW decoding...

It's so bad my friend, because I loved so much this software. I had big hopes when the 2.0 version was released, and thought that the software would be improved on a regular basis... unfortunately it's not the case...

Thanks Mirillis team for this wonderful software that I've used from 2012... I leave the ship...

It is not that bad either. madVR uses a lot of GPU performance and is very tricky, Splash needs less GPU performance and have a fantastic picture :)

Only what I find a pity, there is no HW acceleration for AMD cards. If you want to watch H.265 video, you need an Nvidia card which can decode. I got a GT 1030 (very cheap), that is enough for me. It can play H.265 (HEVC) easily in Splash.
