Mirillis Action conflict (HUD?) with RTSS and FPSMonitor

Tue Nov 28, 2023 4:56 pm

Hello,

OS: Windows 11 Up-To-Date
Video Card: NVidia GTX1070 FE
Memory: 32GB
Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080x144Hz (MAIN), 1920x1080x75Hz, 1440x900x75Hz
Video Editor: None
Game Problem: Sources games (Like Counter-strike:Source, Day of Defeat:Source) and Guild Wars 1
Video Type: MP4

I have a problem since severals months with somes games... Each time I launch a game listed above, sometime it work, sometime game crash at launch (average 2 seconds after launch).

I use RTSS (RivaTuner Statistics Servers with MSI AfterBurner) as a HUD ingame with CPU, GPU, RAM and FPS informations, and when I close it, I no longer have any crash problem with above games. So I thought the problem was RTSS, So, I installed FPSMonitor (an other ingame HUD to display Hardware informations), but I have the same problem with FPSMonitor.

So I started to check about who could be the problem, I was checking for XBox gamebar too, but it wasn't the problem, seems to crash too with RTSS and FPSMonitor. But when I turn off Action, I don't have problem anymore.

For my action configuration:
I have Timeshift enabled and i'm in screen recording mode with Nvenc encoder. I don't use the Action HUD, he is disabled because I use another ingame HUD providing more informations. I suspect Action HUD to be the problem.

When I add game problems in exclude list (in Action -> config -> general -> excluded process) I don't have the problem anymore, I can run RTSS and Action without problem with game above. Because i'm recoding in screen mode, it doesn't change anything about Action for my utilization.

So the problem is solved by adding process in exclude list, but I think it's only a workaround. If you could take a look.

Thank's.

I just tried today, I added all *.exe from RTSS in action exclude list as below

Code: Select all

C:\Program Files (x86)\RivaTuner Statistics Server\RTSS.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\RivaTuner Statistics Server\EncoderServer.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\RivaTuner Statistics Server\EncoderServer64.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\RivaTuner Statistics Server\DesktopOverlayHost.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\RivaTuner Statistics Server\RTSSHooksLoader.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\RivaTuner Statistics Server\RTSSHooksLoader64.exe
But It doesn't work, games crash again.

When I add games executables in action exclude list I no longer have game crashs, like this:

Code: Select all

Y:\Games\Guild Wars\Gw.exe
Y:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Source\hl2.exe
Y:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Day of Defeat Source\hl2.exe
Y:\Games\World of Warcraft\_retail_\Wow.exe
Y:\Games\World of Warcraft\_classic_era_\WowClassic.exe
It seems to be happening more regularly on DX9 games, but sometime I have WoW game crashing at start too, while WoW is not using DX9 but DX12.

Thank's for reply.
