Optimal Setup?

Wed Oct 16, 2013 12:50 am

Hello all. Curious if there is a guide out there talking about optimal setup for mirillis action! Say you have 2 hard drives, 1 ssd for windows and games and a second for media/recording. Would it be best to store action! over on the 2nd hard drive that I will record to, similar to a FRAPS setup?

Any other settings that just don't give a big boost to how much they take away would be interesting too. Such as I heard turning down the priority on the processes for action when you control alt delete. Also heard to run in the original size as setting it to say 1080p is slower.

These are just examples of "tricks of the trade" I've heard, would rock if they were all in 1 place.

For me I'm running the tutorial and like what I see. Its just still dropping decent amounts when I go hit record while playing chivalry, haven't tested it anywhere else. It is still a little smoother than FRAPS, I'm just hoping to find that night and day difference I keep hearing about.

Must say, I haven't seen much info around either about optimizing Action!.
Right now I keep OS, Action! and all applications on my Samsung 830 SSD and for all recordings, I'm using my WD Black HDD. Seems working for me just fine.

Well, it hard to say which setup is optimal. It really depends on your PC specification and expectations.

I would recommend recording into additional hard drive. SSD would be great but a high RPM HDD should work fine also.

Currently I'm recording with Action! on a separate hard drive recording to that one, running games off a Samsung SSD. The separate hard drive is a bit older but seems to do well. This is the same setup I run with FRAPS but I'm noticing a much much lower drop from FRAPS when I hit record than I am with Action!

My PC may just have a thing for FRAPS but I just wanted to see if maybe my setup wasn't perfect. That being said I still have a pretty decent drop when recording on FRAPS as well. So far only tested on Chivalry Medieval Warfare and Dark Souls.

Could you post a screenshot from your Video Recording and Video settings tab?
