Action! Extended Services and Updating Question

Hello! First off I would like to say how wonderful my experience with the Action! recorder has been. I've used so many other recorders, and it just blows everything else out of the water. It's simply phenomenal.

I've been using the trial, and really would like to purchase Action!. Now my question is this. The extended services say, "Once you purchase Action! you'll be entitled to a 2-year extended download service. We will keep a backup copy of the current version of the product you purchased, and will provide you a link to download it on your request."

Now I'm slightly confused at why this is even an option in the purchase. If you do not get the extended services, are you only able to download the program once after purchasing? And also, are you purchasing the current version or are updates to newer versions available after you purchase the program?
