Action! trial doesn't record anything

Thu Nov 17, 2011 4:55 am

Hello,
I've just downloaded the trial of Action! to test it before buying but it doesn't record anything.
No games, no desktop, no audio - nothing and if I want to close it, it hangs and freezes until I have to close it via the Task Manager. If I click on the record button or press f9, nothing happens.

My System: i7 920, GTX 285, Windows 7 Ultimate x64, 4GB DDR3 RAM

Can you help me?
Have a nice day!

Hi and thank you for reporting problem.

Can you please check if any of Action! processes in task manager consumes CPU?
Is Action! HUD with framerate clock displayed in desktop mode and for games?

Yes, it is Action_x86.bin or rather it was Action_x86.bin because I've reinstalled it twice and now it runs stable.
Don't know what the problem was but now it's gone and no it didn't show the hud but now it does.

When the next update comes out, I'll buy it!

Have a nice day.

edit:
I've found the problem (I had it again):
The files Action_x86.bin and Action_x64.bin won't be closed sometimes and if I start Action! again, it opens these files again too so the files are running multiple.

Another problem:
I cannot save any settings. Everytime I start Action!, it shows the standard settings and my custom settings are discarded except the setting for the language <- this will be saved.
It only runs with my settings, if I export the settings from regedit, change them in an editor
like so (only an example):

Code: Select all

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mirillis\Action]
"VideoOutputFolder"="C:\\Desktop Recordings\\"
"AudioAllowMultichannelRec"=dword:00000001
"AudioRecSilence"=dword:00000001
"StartInTray"=dword:00000000
"HideBeforeRec"=dword:00000001
"ShowAfterRec"=dword:00000001
and import them back to the registry.

Thank you for keeping this thread updated.

Do you often experience the problem when bin processes do not close?
Does it happen if you run and close Action! several times after system reboot (with no applications running if possible)?

With settings we will try to investigate this and reproduce problem.

Sorry for the late reply.
The problem has gone with version 1.3.0.
I've reinstalled my system a view weeks ago and installed v1.3.0 again and there's no problem anymore.

The only thing is:
Action takes about 3-4 whole minutes to run.
If I want to record something fast (a cheater on our server or so), I have to use Fraps cause Action won't load until this time.
I'll buy it if this bug has gone.

Have a n ice day
