HDD space is no issue nowadays. Let the FIC file be bigger with HIGH and LOSSLESS quality modes. The encoder will take care of the compression later when exporting.
High and loseless settings will take more hdd space.
Hdd space is still an issue and we did our best to minimize output file size.
Beside hdd free space problem it causes 2 problems (when recording in 1080 or higher):
- it is easy to overstress hdd with high bitrate and cause gameplay or applications to stutter
- with big bitrates there is a problem with raw recordings playback. It may be hard to find a player that will provide a smooth playback keeping audio/video synchro. We have tested many capture software and all with high bitrate output files caused problems with playback. Devil May Cry 4 is a nice game to test it out, generates crazy bitrates.
So we try to keep files small with normal quality settings and provide dedicated player that can handle quite big bitrates well (but still need some further improvements - coming soon).
