cpu usage

Wed Feb 20, 2013 6:45 pm

Hello. I have Splash PRO EX v1.13.1.0. When I turn on Best Quality, set Motion to 10, and turn detail and light boost on, running a video takes up to 90% of my cpu usage, and about 250mb of my RAM. The video file i ran last time was .mp4 and about 1.4gb large, meaning it wasn't that much demanding. What I want to ask is: Is this normal, and am I able to reduce cpu usage in any way other than turning off these quality boosts. Thanks in advance.

p.s. My pc is running on AMD Athlon II X2 processor on 2.8GHz, 2gb of RAM and Radeon 9550 video card.

Detail/light boost are probably running on shaders, so they shouldn't load CPU much. However Motion² is CPU intensive, so such CPU load is normal.
You can reduce CPU load by lowering Motion² to 5 or less, but video would be less smooth (24->48 fps interpoltion, instead of 24->60 at 6+).
Desktop (Intel i7-970, ATI 5870, Windows 7 x64)
Acer Aspire TimelineX 3830TG (Intel i5-2410M, nVidia GT540M, Windows 7 x64)
PS Vita, Nokia N8

Thanks for your answer. That's all I wanted to know. You can close the topic now, if you wish to. :)
