Film Feel?

Thu Feb 16, 2012 3:44 pm

Is there a way to disable "realistic" feel visually?
Currently, the visual is vivid, but makes the set of some movies look fake!

Your question is a bit hard to understand. But i'll go out on a limb and guess.

The "feel" a film has is due to it being at a relatively low frame rate, most files are shown back in 24f, I'm guessing you have Motion2 enabled and set to max? This will reduce that film feeling, as the movie will be shown in 60f instead.

So to get that feeling back for movies disable Motion2 and you will have it back old school :)

The reason it feels different, is the movies themselves counter the low frame with certain filming styles, this clashes with the 60f, which looks awesome in TV Shows / animations. But forcing something that was specifically designed for such a low frame rate doesn't always have the best results!

Hope that helped to some degree :)

NOTE: Don't go crazy on the Light and Detail sliders, they are not designed to be just pushed to the max, you will need to balance it with your monitor and media source. A good setting for me is as follows:
Motion2: 6
Detail Boost: 1
Light Boost: 2
Brightness: 0
Contrast: 0
Saturation: 0

I guess mattisdada said everything to answer your questions.
If you do not like 60p effect you can try to set Motion2 to 5 to double framerate
and the effect will be less smooth than Motion2 set to 6-10.

Thanks mattisdada and ghost,

What's the difference between 6 to 10 in iMotion2? Personally I use the setting to eliminate stutters!
