Splash PRO Capture Frame...

Thu Dec 16, 2010 2:23 am

hi guys, first of all i want to give congratulation to all, for the great HDplayer that you guys had done.

i want to ask one thing, is there any chance for us to chose the format of Capture Frame? i would love have it as .PNG

i am uploader in various trackers and almost all just authorizing the Screenshots as .PNG, and other thing, the sites of image hosts don't recognize the format .bmp (the format we have actually) can you guys fix this?

Best Regards

You can convert bmp to png with almost any image editing software, even with paint.

Hi guys,

we capture frame in .bmp format for a few reasons:
- no compression artefacts destroying image quality
- works on all operating systems
- opens with all image viewers (I guess, didnt test "all" ;) )
- easy to edit and convert to any format you like

if we choose .jpg, some users would probably complain to image quality,
if we choose .png, some would complain it doesnt open in all viewers,

We are trying to avoid adding "another" switch in settings for any functionality Splash has, so lets stay with bmp, at least for now.

regards,

It's the best format for screen capture. As you said, it avoids image capture artefacts and it is as good as png.

For now like Helios wrote we will support BMP.
But we will collect your suggestion about png to consider for future versions.
