Chromecast Support

Fri Jul 26, 2013 7:35 pm

Hey, I don't know if anyone else has requested this, I don't seem to see it, but have you guys seen the new Google Chromecast device?

https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/d ... chromecast

It allows you to stream movies and tv shows to your TV through supported applications and also allows you to stream your current tab in Google Chrome.
I just purchased one of these devices and Splash Player is by far my favorite media player and I think support for this would be great.
The limitation is it only supports specific codecs:
All Google Cast devices at a minimum support the following media types:Video codecs: h.264, VP8
Audio decoding: HE-AAC, LC-AAC, CELT/OPUS, MP3Containers: MP4/CENC, WebM, MPEG-DASH, SmoothStreamingLevel 1 DRM support: Widevine, Playready
And maybe transcoding videos to meet the requirements of these codecs is outside the scope of the player.
I just figured I would bring this to your attention.

Developer information for the chromecast can be found here: https://developers.google.com/cast/
Keep up the great work :D
