Heyy,
i am curious: Whats with the upcoming release?
Is it coming before the end of the year?
I hope so!
Looking forward to it, I just love SPLASH!
when I play 1080p H.264 (High@L5.0 / L5.1) file with 9 & 16 reference frames, splash fallback to software decode. while its better this way than just crashing/freezing, it still wouldn't allow GPU decoding for all files.Ghost wrote: * GPU video decoding improvements on nVidia GPUs (decoding of 1920x1080 H.264 video streams with more than 5 reference frames)
This problem will be fixed in v1.2 soon. Please note that 16 reference frames for 1080p content will be supported only on nVidia and Intel GPUs. Another requirement is a minimum of 256MB VRAM.applejack wrote:happy new year! and thank you for the new improved version!
although I'm a little confused by this:

however, (L4.1) with 9 reference frames, or even 720p (main@5.0) with 8ref, for example, are GPU decoded just fine.
if i'm not mistaken, the (high@L5.0) 9 reference frames file I tested has been successfully GPU accelerated with previous version (1.0.5).
this is all very confusing as there are many kinds of encodes. most are GPU accelerated, not all.
I should note that ATI do not support HW acceleration for out of blueray specifications (L4.1) decoding at all,
haven't had the chance to check them out with splash yet...
anyhow, I really appreciate your efforts and improvements for us free users !
I just wish every single MKV would decode on GPU, so this headache is gone once and for all
